My teenage ambition was to change this world. I am not a Wonder Woman, but I am a produced screenwriter, emerging producer, filmmaker, and film tutor. So I suppose I am heading in the right direction.

I was born in Saint-Petersburg, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. After graduating with Distinction from University as a stage director and playwriter, for more than 15 years I was writing scripts for independent theatrical performances and TV. A feature film and 39 episodes of TV series were made from my scripts in Russia. In addition to my writing career, I held different crew positions on film sets (assistant director, script supervisor, production designer), and was a tutor of Scriptwriting at my Alma Mater University.

In 2015 I decided to change my career and enter the British film industry. I successfully graduated with Distinction from the MA Screenwriting course at Screen Academy Scotland (Edinburgh Napier University) in 2016. The next four years became a good start for a newcomer in the UK. I have produced 4 short films, written screenplays for 4 produced short films, and directed 1 short film.

Apart from writing, producing and directing, I pursue an academic career at a PhD Film course at Lancaster University and run lectures and seminars with undergraduate and masters students in film. While being a teacher myself, I am sure that a screenwriter and filmmaker needs to study constantly in order not to become out of date. That is why I did short courses at the University of East Anglia (Screenwriting course), the Open University (The Business of Film) and National Film and Television School (Filmmaking course), Film Distribution (Film Distributors’ Association), Intro to Film Producing (Met Film School). Before the pandemic, I annually visited master classes of world-famous professionals at the London Screenwriters Festival, Cannes Film Festival, and Edinburgh International Film Festival.
